Electrofishing Inverness Fish Ladder

Ellendale Environmental has been working with McGregor Construction, providing the environmental support for the replacement of an existing fish pass.

Before works started we ensured all the fish were removed from the works area through elctrofishing.

Electrofishing is a technique commonly used to survey rivers and assess what fish are present. When done properly, it stuns fish for a short period allowing them to be removed carefully with a net, examined and then returned alive with no permanent harm done.

A fish rescue was undertaken using the electrofishing equipment ensuring that all animals were removed and a sterile work area was created.
