Holm Burn Fish Pass

Ellendale Environmental are pleased to be working with McGregor Construction on a project to repair and existing fish pass on the Holm Burn, South of Inverness.

The Holm Burn was an important spawning and nursery area for salmon and sea trout. However, water abstraction, morphological alterations and barriers to fish migration have resulted in the condition of the Burn and its fish stocks becoming severely degraded.

The new replacement fish pass will mitigate against the effects of low flows, creating deeper refuge areas and more habitat diversity, and allowing the passage of migrating fish to the upper Hold Burn.
